Alliance

The protocol establishing the BRICS Alliance of Folk Dance was signed by the BRICS Ministers of Culture at the Cultural Forum in St. Petersburg in September 2024. Olga Lyubimova, the Russian Minister of Culture, supported the initiative of Kostroma Russian National Ballet to set up an association of creative groups and educational organizations specializing in folk dance.

The BRICS Alliance of Folk Dance will facilitate the exchange of experiences and the development of creative ties between young dancers. The Alliance's activities include international events: The Global Dance Overture, the International Creative Dacha cultural and educational project, and the BRICS Folk Dance Festival

Folk dance is one of the most accessible and understandable languages for exchanging sensory and emotional information about the cultural code of peoples, as the language of choreography and movement is universal and accessible to audiences of all ages, languages, and religions.
The Alliance was established as an effective mechanism for cooperation to promote international cultural and educational projects aimed at introducing the folk dance culture of the BRICS member states.
Innovative activities of the Alliance include the introduction, cross-study, preservation, popularization, and mutual promotion of the folk dance cultures of friendly countries. The aim is to unite nations on the principles of shared humanitarian values, mutual sympathy, understanding, and loyalty.
